Empowering Youth for Digital Accountability

Technical Expert Digital Tools Consultant

I worked with 30 young women and men to develop five sustainable digital tools that strengthen community engagement and social accountability. The project empowered youth to turn their ideas into impactful innovations.

About us

I worked as a Technical Expert and Digital Tools Consultant with Rasheed for Integrity and Transparency — the national chapter of Transparency International in Jordan — within the framework of the Nazaha Project: “Support to Social Accountability and Empowering Civil Society for Better Governance”, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

The project aimed to enhance transparency, accountability, and civic participation by empowering civil society organizations and youth to design and develop digital tools that promote open governance and social accountability.

I worked closely with youth on developing digital tools. It was a real, hands-on experience with a group of young people who believed that technology could be a means to change reality. I was with them from the very first moment, when ideas were incomplete and straightforward, until they transformed into fully functional digital tools that reflected their awareness and passion.

Throughout the project, we went through intensive innovation bootcamps to generate and develop ideas. Discussions were lengthy, and work was collaborative at every stage, from design to testing. The training was not lectures, but practical, field-based work in which everyone participated. We developed the tools together, learned from mistakes, and refined ideas until the projects reached the quality they deserved.

I supported the teams at every stage, from sketching the first ideas to the moment they confidently stood in front of an audience to present their projects. I helped them build their presentations and craft messages that convey the essence of each tool.

What made this experience different is that it provided a space to build faith in the youth’s ability to drive change and to demonstrate that technology, when used with integrity, can become a powerful tool to enhance transparency and accountability in our society.

The Youth Projects

At the end of the program, the participating youth teams successfully launched five innovative digital tools that embody the project’s spirit of transparency and community engagement:

Sehatak

A digital platform that allows citizens to rate their experiences at healthcare centers anonymously

NGO 962

A mobile application connecting young people with volunteering and job opportunities within civil society organizations across Jordan.

An integrated website for the Municipality of Sahab, offering citizens access to information, public sessions, and feedback channels.

Sahab Digital Platform
Corniche Chatbot

An intelligent chatbot that provides instant responses and facilitates communication between citizens and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

Conan Podcast

A teen-led podcast exploring issues such as transparency, political culture, media responsibility, and civic engagement.

Project Impact

Through this experience, I helped equip a new generation of young changemakers with the skills to use technology as a tool for building trust and accountability between citizens and institutions.

Nazaha was more than just a digital transformation project — it was a journey toward translating democratic values into practical, living digital tools that serve people and strengthen integrity.
